Amazon is expanding its support of renewable energy and regional NSW!

Amazon Web Services has announced its commitment to purchasing 60 megawatts of power from the Gunnedah Solar Farm in regional NSW. This will be the first such investment for the company outside of the US and Europe.

When it becomes operational in 2021, the project is expected to generate 142,000MWh of renewable energy annually for AWS, which is equivalent to the annual electricity of almost 23,000 Australian households.

Beavis, writing on a company blog says, “This announcement is the latest in many steps we have already taken to increase our sustainability. At the same time that we unveiled our Australian investment in Gunnedah, we announced another three wind and solar projects around the world, amounting to 88 renewable energy projects that combined have the capacity to generate over 2,300 MW and deliver more than 6.3 million MWh of electricity annually.”
