Overview

The Namoi Regional Job Precinct will focus on improvements in planning to support the sustainable growth of intensive agriculture and livestock production.

An action plan is being developed to outline recommended changes to the local planning framework. The NSW Government will work closely with the Agricultural Commissioner, Namoi Unlimited Joint Organisation and its member councils, on its investigations which include technical studies to define the scope of the precinct including size and exact location.

Regional Job Precincts will deliver faster planning approvals to provide local councils, industry and businesses with greater confidence around future investment and development.

All Regional Job Precincts are being delivered as part of the $4.2 billion Snowy Hydro Legacy Fund.

Competitive advantages

The Namoi Regional Job Precinct will offer:

  • Located in one of the most productive agricultural regions in NSW.
  • Improved certainty for development in the intensive agriculture industry by identifying locations that will support industry growth.
  • Support for value-adding industries across the agricultural supply chain to support intensive agriculture and livestock production.

Project timeline

Work is underway with the Namoi Unlimited Joint Organisation and their member councils to commence technical investigations in the coming months.

Community members and landowners will have an opportunity to contribute and provide feedback on this exciting project throughout 2021.
