Overview

The South Jerrabomberra Regional Job Precinct will build on the NSW Government’s existing investment in the Poplars Innovation Precinct to create a hub of defence, space, cyber-security, information technology and scientific research sectors.

An action plan is being developed to outline recommended changes to the local planning framework. Technical environmental and planning studies will investigate around 1,000 hectares of land within the Queanbeyan-Palerang Local Government Area, including the Poplars Innovation Precinct.

Regional Job Precincts will deliver faster planning approvals to provide local councils, industry and businesses with greater confidence around future investment and development.

All Regional Job Precincts are being delivered as part of the $4.2 billion Snowy Hydro Legacy Fund.

Competitive advantage

The South Jerrabomberra Regional Job Precinct will offer:

  • A NSW address close to the nation’s decision-makers, located 15 minutes from Canberra International Airport and 20 minutes from Canberra CBD.
  • Access to a large skilled labour pool and links to leading universities in Canberra for research and development opportunities.

A new comprehensive high school in Jerrabomberra that offers STEM subjects.

Project timeline

Technical investigations are underway in consultation with Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council, NSW Government agencies, the ACT Government and key stakeholders.

Community members and landowners will have an opportunity to contribute and provide feedback on this exciting project throughout 2022.
