BAE Systems is a global defence, aerospace and security company.

BAE Systems has a major base at Williamtown in the Hunter servicing the large RAAF base.

Williamtown is the centre of BAE System's Australia air combat sustainment activities, including deeper maintenance and line maintenance for the RAAF fleets of 33 Hawk 127 lead-in fighters.

BAE Systems Australia has been assigned Airframe Maintenance, Component Maintenance and Regional Warehousing roles supporting the F-35 Fleet in the Asia Pacific region, which could be up to 400 aircraft. Development of the BAE Systems Williamtown site in preparation for this activity is well underway, to be ready for F-35 maintenance and sustainment on site from early 2021.

The presence of BAE Systems acts as a catalyst for other business development in the region.  BAE Systems Australia is very proud of the high calibre supply chain who we work with – more than 1,600 businesses in Australia, and around 180 in the Hunter region.  BAE Systems will continue to partner with local and state industry groups to support growth in this region, underpinned by the NSW Government’s investment in Williamtown as a Special Activation Precinct, and the industrial Astra Aerolab hub.
