Emirates One&Only Wolgan Valley is an ultra-luxury conservation-based resort.
Emirates One&Only Wolgan Valley is located in the World Heritage-listed Greater Blue Mountains region, nestled amongst 7,000 acres of protected wilderness and surrounded by two national parks.
The resort was inducted into the Hall of Fame in the Regional Deluxe Hotel category in the Tourism Accommodation Australia Awards for Excellence 2019 and voted #5 in the Top 25 Hotels in Australia category of TripAdvisor Traveller’s Choice Awards 2019.
Wolgan Valley is a 2.5 hour drive from Sydney and it was selected by Emirates after extensive research for a location to establish a luxury resort operating to the highest level of environmental credibility and integrity and to be certified annually as carbon neutral. The resort’s philosophy centres on creating a delicate balance between tourism and preservation, and protecting the natural environment is central to the core operating vision across all colleagues and management. The property opened in 2009 at a cost of A$125 million.
Emirates One&Only Wolgan Valley celebrates its tenth consecutive year of carbon neutral certification. It was the first resort in the world to achieve internationally accredited carbon neutral status when it opened in 2009 and remains the only resort in Australia with this standard of accreditation.
Occupying just 1% of the total land area, 40 freestanding villas showcase spectacular views, each with private swimming pool, double-sided fireplace and peaceful verandah. The resort features a Main Homestead with various dining settings, a heritage precinct, and the One&Only Spa. The resort was also built with strong reference to its Australian identity and local rural history. Its design, inspired by the Federation period, is reminiscent of traditional rural architecture and a highlight of the property is the original homestead (dating back to1832) which was restored. Emirates One&Only Wolgan Valley embraces its spectacular natural setting, built predominantly of timber and sandstone with traditional steel roofing in order to blend into the landscape. During the construction of the resort, natural land recycled materials such as sandstone and timber were sourced within a 100km radius of the property and fallen ‘old wood’ Eucalyptus trees found on the reserve were milled to create unique furniture pieces.
Inspired by the natural environment, the food philosophy celebrates seasonal, organic produce sourced from regional farmers and vintners. The menu changes seasonally and many ingredients come from the resort’s very own kitchen garden.
The resort’s unique blend of native wildlife, dramatic landscapes and heritage can be explored through a range of epic outdoor activities including hiking, four wheel driving, mountain biking and horse riding along hidden trails, sparkling creeks and epic ridgelines. Guests are also invited to get hands on with important conservation work.
Emirates One&Only Wolgan Valley is managed by international resort operator, One&Only Resorts.
