The purpose-built $71 million innovation and manufacturing facilities for satellites and space technology will be based in the South Jerrabomberra Regional Job Precinct and at UTS Tech Labs in Botany, Sydney. It's set to turn the Queanbeyan area into a hub for defence and space manufacturing and technology.
Led by two of Australia’s premier space technology and engineering companies, Electro Optic Systems (EOS) and Nova Systems, the new centre fills several recognised gaps in Australia’s current space manufacturing landscape to develop large Earth Observation satellites up to 500 kg in weight capable of fulfilling complex missions of national significance.
The hub will be a global leader, bringing European satellite manufacturers into Australia and accelerating the upskilling of the regional NSW workforce while providing highly-skilled manufacturing jobs in regional NSW.
The planned innovation hub at South Jerrabomberra will provide a collaboration space for businesses and universities to come together to further sovereign capability, and will create closer engagement between government, industry and the tertiary sector.
